Fertilization

Organic or Synthetic Fertilizer?  There are positives to both.

Synthetic fertilizers allow for an almost instant reward in color and growth, especially in the Spring when homeowners would like to see something pleasing instead of their downtrodden and brown winter landscape.

Organic fertilizers take a bit longer to react, but provide a longer cycle of nutrition that helps build soil health.

While we do enjoy the instant reward achieved with synthetics, we’ve always had dogs and kids running around our properties, giving us an uneasy feeling after every application. To keep our pets and children safe, we prefer to use organic fertilizer whenever possible.

Through the years we’ve had great success with Scotts Natural and Milorganite brands of organic lawn food.  Milorganite contains iron which helps counteract our slightly alkaline water system and provides a deeper green color over time.  You can find plenty of information about both fertilizers online.

Mowing

Bagging or Mulching? With proper timing and the use of mulching lawn mower blades, you can return cut grass clippings back into your turf and provide continuous nutrition for your soil.  Free nitrogen!  Your soil is providing the foundation for growth and this is one way to help strengthen that foundation, and besides, taking lawn clippings to the dump is a drag...  (We compost clippings whenever possible)

We prefer to mulch clippings and when performed correctly, you will not notice a difference in the finished look of your lawn.  That said, sometimes the growth is simply too heavy, or you may have an outdoor event where you would like the clippings bagged.  We encourage you to try out mulching first, and if you don’t like it, we’ll switch to bagging.

Lawn Striping

Ever notice the striping evident on sports surfaces like golf courses, and baseball/football fields?  Professional turf managers strive for that look for a finished and pleasing view. We use striping lawn mowers and can achieve the same result for your yard, in fact, it’s our signature.  Why not let us turn your lawn into a sports stadium turf?
